Entry #6 Sports and the Effects on Mental Health

Image
For those who have played sports we all know the mentality that comes along with them. However, I want to cover some of the toxic areas that most people don't see specifically wrestling. Wrestling is an individual combat sport where matches are determined by weight class and rank being JV or varsity. Which doesn't seem all that bad until we start talking about the coaches and others on the team.  Unfortunately, coaches will push you to your limits to make you a certain weight in order for your school or club to have the best rankings. Meaning they will suggest laxatives, throwing up, and not eating to make weight causing a toxic  environment. This also had long term effects such as eating disorders for the wrestler.   While yes wrestling is a fun sport and at the end of the day it's up to the wrestler on what they do these things should not be getting pushed onto young impressionable athletes. Sadly, I personally know many athletes who also experienced this an...

Entry #5 Education

Image
Sadly, I know a lot of people who had no intentions of furthering their education after graduating high school. Because of this I believe that the Achive60AZ is a great idea giving the opportunity to further education. Along with that it comes with numerous benefits for everyone. Such as better public services such as parks and roads from higher tax. Along with that more jobs for everyone and a decrease in poverty so overall I think it's a great idea.   The second article we looked is much more focused on income in Arizona. Especially the pay discrepancies depending on education showing how if all you have is a high school degree your pay is next to nothing. Making it impossible to support a family or even yourself with this kind a pay. Which is partially the reason why I'm in school to make sure I don't have to worry about these things along with my own passion.  For these reasons I think everyone should peruse a higher education. Not only to benefit themselves but als...

Entry #4 What's Mine Is Mine (Art)

Image
Unfortunately, the world of art is very corrupt where people constantly take others art then passes it off as their own. Because of this, there is a constant need to watermark work which can be very annoying and takes away from the art. Thankfully more ways to  protect your art do exist but we shouldn't have to do it in the first place.  Image creating a piece of art that took days to complete just to look online the next day or reverse image searching it and you see someone claiming its theirs. It's extremely infuriating not only because you aren't getting recognition but because someone else is also profiting who did no work at all. Sadly, the only positive note of it all is most the time they will get  caught . Or if you're the original artist you can try and claim it in order to get it taken down.  To end this off the art world in unfortunately scummy with people everywhere ready to take what's yours. Thankfully we do have tools to protect ourselves but a...

Entry #3 Taylor Swift AI CNN

Image
It's no secret that almost every big news outlet uses slanted reporting. However, they are pretty sneaky with it with most people never even realizing it's happening. Thats why today I decided to cover an article that came out from CNN  covering the Taylor Swift AI controversy. Where they cover the very scary topic which is AI and its ability to create fake images. While at the same time also pushing a narrative of their own.   This article from CNN addressed the whole AI situation and was extremely informative. However, while reading the article you can see that a strange narrative about men is also being pushed. Saying how women all across the world are at risk rather than people all around the world making it about gender. While talking about this new generation of men having access to these AI tools can let them live out their fantasies. Making it seem like a male vs female topic saying men are putting women at risk rather than people are putting people at risk. ...
